Thanks all for the replies. I am sitting on a ton of these blank cut pieces, thanks to the guys at the local BassPro Shop archery counter.
***Update*** I tried these out over the California archery opener weekend and they worked great. I did in fact notice at the end of the trip, when breaking down my rig, that one of the CF toggles was a tiny bit crushed. I guess I will continue to use these while also keeping some spare sticks close by as well as hanging low, ha!

I have a bunch of CF rods from different sources... Arrow shafts, RC sailboat masts and booms etc and all have different wall thickness. Thicker would makes sense as the better choice, but one set I am using has very thin walls but is layered in a spiral rather than the straight strands like the arrow shafts. It's crazy rigid and I can stand on even a small piece (smaller than what we would use for a toggle) without it crushing..

I say again: fill it with Great Stuff spray foam (not the Door & Window version) the regular version is designed to keep expanding until it can't, it's pressurized, it should add internal structure so that they can't crush as easily.

The Door&Window version is designed NOT to be pressurized to prevent it from messing up the adjustments on door and window frames.

you only get one shot with the can, so make sure you actually have something to insulate other than cf arrow sections

This is a great idea. Great Stuff weighs next to nothing.

I believe your comment about single use is because of the foam that cures in the spray tube.. I've blown those tubes out for reuse. Compressed air for the win!

Yeah, it's been a while since my father built his house. He had cans of Great Stuff that came with a built on hoses that you couldn't remove.

I don't think it was intended to be structural, and I don't know know effective it really would be, but they had to invent the Door And Window version because the pressure caused by the regular version was binding door and window frames, anyway let me know if it works!

Dutch titanium toggles are like 7 - 8 g per pair. You can cut them shorter to make them weigh less. I don't expect these would get crushed. Attach them to the end of your tree strap and never lose them.

Sounds and would look good but I would just use a stick from the ground.

It is the lightest option out there. lol. I got to the point where it was just easier to use the Dutch toggles. I didn't enjoy searching for a good stick in the cold, rain or snow. I cut mine down and they are definitely worth the grams.

Just received a pair recently and happened to weigh them last weekend to add to my list. 7.2g on my scale for the pair with the inner strands stripped out of the attached cord loops. Could certainly cut them down a little to shave more weight.

I have one set of Kevlar straps that have a short Alu toggle spliced into the end.. it is a shortened alu shephards hook stake. The other set of Kevlar straps has CF toggles spliced on.
