Sparrow top-cover questions

I'm currently using a Clark nx-270 where the bug net and top cover are always on, you just pick which to use. Is the sparrow an either/or or do they both stay on? (I get you can completely remove them unlike my Clark but doubt I ever would).
Second question, assuming mist or light rain resistance is about the same between the fabrics which is going to retain the best heat? The heavier 2.2 over the hyper 1.6? Different materials may breathe differently so that's what has me wondering.

Either or so only one at a time, but you if you do purchase the net and top cover, you get the hammock with the top cover on and the net in the ridge bag at the top of your hammock. Very nice to just store it away while you use the other.
