    DIY Winter Tarp

Well I think I completed my DIY tarp today. Ended up spreading the wealth purchasing things from a bunch of the vendors.

Tarp is the winter kit from RSBTR using the .9oz membrane silpoly PU 4000. Tarp made per directions on the site. For the tie outs, used grossgrain loops, and for the reinforcements for the tie outs, picked up a high visibility vest you see road crews wear. Used this tarp once and couldn't find it at night. Hopefully the reflective tie outs will help next time. Stakes have the zing it lines larks headed to them with Dutch Fleaz attached with continuous loops to the bottom of the tarp. Same way Rob shows in the Backpacking Adventures YouTube video.

Ridgeline is a CRL with a Dutch hook on one side and a wasp on the other. Tarp attached with prussic and mini S biners.

Finally Tarp Pole Mod Kit from Make Your Gear.

Used this tarp once before it was completed back in May and liked it a lot. Get to try out the completed project next week while visiting my son's scout camp.

Looks good, I have a new one on my list of upcoming DIY projects. When you use your pole mod, put the poles over top of your ridge line. It works better that way, in my opinion.

Looks awesome. Nothing like sleeping with gear you made yourself. Keep it up.

You probably can't see in the picture, plus the space I'm using is a little short, but that's the way it is. Ridgeline is actually under the tarp.

Okay, I see it now. I usually put my tarp under the ridge line. I don't like the tarp rubbing on the line, especially with the poles going over it. I added a picture to my original post of the tarp being used in February at a winter hang. It was a good time, I think there were about 25 of us hanging.

looks great. One of the many things on my to make list. I love the poles seeing I have a tendency to trip over tie outs even if I see them lol.

Love the pole mod. First time I've seen that. I'm making one now and my machine quit working. Spent 3 days trying to fix it. Gonna replace it with a heavier Singer if I can find one.
