I finally got around to making myself a bug net. Now I can actually lay out at night and not have to worry about those bird size mosquitos we have here in Minnesota. I followed a video I found on youtube (probably from someone on here) that used curtains from Walmart. it was cheap and works great. I might end up sowing a channel for the shock cord loops on the ends.

Good looking net. I have made 2 of these using the same sheer curtains from ww. they work well but tend to be bulky/ heavy for BPing and are a little hot as they do restrict the air flow, but no skeeters get through. You may want to treat your net with Permitheran (sic). This will KILL the bloodsuckers on contact. YEA
I just received 2 Wally World sheer drapes in black to do the exact same bug net... Well, my wife will be making it as I cannot sew a stitch. Yours looks great!!! Thanks everyone. I know it's a little bulkier than actual bug net but I have a tendency to tare holes in bug netting and for the price I don't mind for now. I built two just like this, although I used 0.5oz noseeum fabric from RSBTR. It's a fabulous and easy to use design and mine only weigh about five ounces each (not so cost effective at $35-40 each). The only improvement I made was to sew two small channels in the opening on each end and ran some cord and a lock through each. Now I can just sinch the ends closed rather than trying to tie them off.
