    What is Silicone/PU coating??

In my quest for a "medium weight" tarp in yellow, (wanted 1.6 silpoly, but cant find it) I found 2 fabrics at the Rainshed.
    http://www.therainshed.com/fabrics/CtdRipTaff.htm

One is a 70 denier ripstop nylon with a silicone/pu coating,, is it silicone or PU, or both ?
The other is a 2.5oz coated Taffeta (PU coated)

Just trying to figure what would be the most hassle free tarp material?

Kyle has 1.1 silpoly (actually weighs 1.24 with the coating) here.

You can have both, PU on one side, Sil on the other. Kyle at Ripstopbytheroll does it on his PU4000 fabrics, he does a 1.6oz HyperD PU4000,

    Why so heavy?

Slackdaddy, I've seen you all over this place professing that 1.1 is too thin, but I continue to wonder, "How so?"

I just completed a 1.1 SilPoly PU4000 tarp, and the fabric is quite resilient. Very strong. It will do everything you ask of it, honest! Get the yellow you want! Pull the trigger on the 1.1!
"We are the greatest bulldozers to walk erect. Will we ever permit Mother Nature–truly our mother–to do her thing, undisturbed and unmarred? Will we ever be content to play a passively observant role in the universe, and leave off this unceasing activity? I do not wish man in control of the universe. I wish nature in control, and man playing only his just role as one of its inhabitants."

I take groups of kids kayak camping, age 10-16 typ.
I have 7 hammocks, most being Hennessey, with the stock rain fly's, they appear to be 30D or 1.1 silnylon.
I have never stated 1.1 is to thin,, I have said 1.1 is not what I am looking for in my situation. were weight is not a problem and durability is a must (kids)
I have had the UL hennesy tarps rip from over tightening, stress, etc.
I have switched out 2 hammocks to the Hennessy 70D Hex tarp, that is the perfect balance between weight and durability "In MY Situation" (They would not work for someone UL backpacking.

The lightweight sil nylon tarp for my yellow HH exp finally gave up, I am looking to replicate the 70D Hex tarp in yellow.
Yeah I have been posting a lot in my quest for a 1.6-1.9 (or 70D) yellow silpoly.

    Here ya go fella,

I jest, but that is the good info we need to be able to suggest something appropriate.
I know how frustrating it can be trying to hunt down something when you have set yourself a tight target. It took me a age to track down some light WR tartan material (for a proper rain-kilt), took several wrong turns along the way. Thankfully, Kyle came out with his printed ripstop to save the day.
