“I am losing precious days. I am degenerating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains to learn the news”
― John Muir
My Dream Hammock Freebird is amazing for side sleeping. It's a gathered end hammock.
I believe the fabric you use can be just as important. Hammocks can be very firm (thicker fabric), in bed terms. I like my beds on the softer side and I like my hammocks on the stretchier side (thinner fabric). As a side-sleeper, I think this might be even more important to know what you like. How much pressure you like on your body, how much it hugs your curves etc. Someone else said they chose a firmer hammock for turning, but I find I adapted to my ultra-light hammock just fine i.e. I wake up in a vast number of positions, ones I certainly didn't start off in. If weight is not an issue, many people find they find a nice balance with a double hammock, where the inside layer is ultra light and the outer layer is heavier. Something to think about.
+3 on the ridge runner. It's like a cot (but better) that floats in the woods.
Give a man enough ripstop and he'll hang himself.
Well folks, it's beginning to look like I'll go for a Ridgerunner unless some surprise contender shows up with a better idea. I watched a couple of videos on the Ridgerunner, and I like the idea of those "saddlebag" pockets.
Do I have to buy one direct from the manufacturer, or is there some discount house somewhere on the internet?
I love my Ridgerunner too.
The only thing I wished for were for the spreader bars to break down into exact thirds. They'll be much more packable, IMO...
