Ordered WBBB 1.7 DBL w/wintercover. What tarp??

I just ordered today a BB 1.7 double with winter cover and Carabiners. I got the Srap & buckle suspension.
Looking forward to hanging it!
I have whoopies so If I'd like to swap it, It should be easy.
I was thinking of getting the superfly for it. I like a tarp with doors or a large tarp like DD 4x4 that can fold the corners in as doors but wanted a tarp that I can add the pole mod. Anyone try a pole mod on a superfly?
Weight is not an issue but durability is.
SLD winter Haven looks good to.

Whats your favorite Tarp for the XLC?
Is a 10' tarp measured on the ridgeline to short for the xlc?
Post a picture if you can.

10 ' - meh, don't like it, a little short
11' - plenty, some prefer as you are less likely to rub the peak of the tarp when you pitch it low
12' - luxury, my preferred option, in foul weather of an extended nature, always nice to have the extra room
13' - you're just indulging in excess

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Superfly or a Hex from UGQ or any number of other tarps, so long as they had the features I desired. Prefer outside pole mode to inside pole mod for a couple reasons but a well thought out inside pole mod is the bees knees. Pole mods do stretch the nylon fabric if you use the poles a lot. Look forward to trying some silpoly in the future.

I've used a Old Man Winter from Wilderness Logics for many hundreds of nights. Gotta love doors when the wind is blowing, especially if you cold weather camp. I pitch higher than most because I like to be able to stand up under my tarp. I also use an UQP so rain/snow blowing in doesn't bother me.

A 12 footer does give you a ridiculous amount of room. I kept a folding chair and 3 small tables out with me in what my family calls my traveling apartment.

Pole mod:
The attachment points have to be sewn on the tarp, for sure order the tarp with them. Sewing them on after is a bit tedious from what I have observed. It's little more than some folded grosgrain sewn to a reinforced area on the tarp.

Wilderness Logics pole set uses buckles so you'd have to have those sewn on to the loop on the tarp. Really any grosgrain loop with an amsteel continuous loop or dogbone is sufficient. So the DIY method of keeping it simple works.

No experience w/ a DD tarp, can't help you.

Only thing I'd pay attention to is making sure you have enough room to keep the poles off the ridge of the tarp when setup. If the poles press down on the ridge, you run the risk of creating a leak. A couple factors are play here, creating a gathering point for the water to sit in an extended downpour, quality of your seam sealing, was grosgrain used to sew the ridge, etc.

If you go with an inside pole mod, make sure you get a light enough pole, too heavy a pole puts too much stress on the pockets. I've actually had a pole tear through a grosgrain pocket. Too much tension isn't good, it creates a nice tarp stake launcher. Also, nice to have a tie at the inside center peak if you are going with a single inside pole mode. Prevents the pole from wandering.

Seems there more to it than just addong couple of poles. The insude pole mod looks good but I like the 2-outside pole mod. I better look at what tarps have options I need for the poles. I have ZERO SEWING experience.

Anyone have a superfly with pole mod? Pictures?

Starting over from scratch and taking a different route this time so please bare with me.

My buddy has a Superfly and I have the Winter Dream, we both use the outside pole mod. My poles are four 13" sections for each pole. I like the 13" sections as the 13" fits nicely on the side of my pack.

There's also the option of ordering them with your tarp if you so choose. I bought the Simply Light Design 12' Winter Haven with the pole mod so I was a custom fit.
