    Simple & adjustable suspension

    So I returned my bulky ENO Atlas straps and am purchasing Dutch suspension. I have cinch buckles. They are ok but seem to slip occasionally, easily fixed with a knot, but the way I am using them may not be correct.

    tree->strap->cinch buckle->fixed end of whoopie->adjustable end of whoopie>continuous loop->hammock

    I like the utility of Dutch Clips and believe they would be used like this:
    tree->strap->Dutch buckle->adjustable end of whoopie ->fixed end of whoopie->hammock
    Buckle stays on strap, whoopie stays on hammock

    or

    tree->strap->Dutch buckle->adjustable end of Whoopie ->fixed end of whoopie->whoopie hook -> continuous loop->hammock
    In this configuration I am not sure of the benefit of the hook aside from a water break or using a spreader bar

    Then there are Titanium Cinch buckles and Spiders which I believe are used like this:
    tree->strap->Titanium Cinch Buckle or Spider -> continuous loop->hammock
    or
    tree->strap->Titanium Cinch Buckle or Spider -> fixed end of whoopie ->adjustable end of whoopie ->whoopie hook->continious loop->hammock

    I think I have more than a few mistakes in there. My priorities are simplicity, size/weight, cost.

    Am I envisioning the Dutch Buckle correctly? And yes, I have watched his videos but I just got over a pretty basic mistake configuring hammock so wished to double check.

    And yes, there is:
    tree->strap->marlin spike hitch->whoopie->hammock

    If your cinch buckles are slipping they probably aren't pulling straight. Hold the end of the hammock and pull the cinch buckle with two fingers inside the buckle. If it isn't straight then adjust the amsteel loop at the buckle or the hammock so it is. The cinch buckle suspension with Dutch Clip is on of the simplest and reliable suspensions I have. Just not the lightest. The cinch bugs are another configuration that would fit the bill for you. I like that one because it isn't so sensitive to pulling straight and the webbing is removable. The only configuration you mentioned that I think doesn't fit your priorities is the Dutch Buckle.

    If you're using Dutch Whoopie Hook, it would be from strap>fixed eye of sling>adjustable side with Whoopie Hook spliced in>CL attached to hammock.
    Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

    Good to know. Will stick with it.

    Got my Dutch fix with the spreader bar for dual hanging. The dual will be cool but I think the hooks will help too.

    I have Dutch buckles on straps & then the adjustable end of the whoopie is on the buckle & the fixed end is larks headed to the CL through the hammock end. I've never had them slip at all & between the whoopies & the buckles, the amount of adjustment is awesome. I will say one thing about the whoopies, the distance between my supports is WAY more than I thought I would need. I had an ENO DN with Atlas straps that worked great at about 14' but my Dutch 11' w/ whoopies just wouldn't set up right. I finally got it nailed down when I had about 18' between the supports, Just something to keep in mind

    My own suspension is clips, straps, buckles, whoopies, hook, loop. Very versatile and easy to use. I am, however, considering dumping the buckles in favor of simple toggles, as I find the toggles both easier and faster to work with.

    The clips are really nice, and I much prefer using straps, as opposed to huggers. Whoever came up with whoopies, was a pure genius

    I really like the Cinch Bug straps with sewn on Dutch Clips set up that Dutch sells. These work very well, solid, light, no need for backup half-hitches. Dutch guarantees your satisfaction.

    The Warbonnet and AHE "cinch buckles" are also a simple and positive, fast suspension, also half-hitch free and rock solid.

    I have been very satisfied with these simple suspensions.

    What I do not understand is why anyone would use a whoopie with a cinch buckle. One only needs *ONE* point of adjustability.

    I kind of get it with the rest of the bling, they are for folks who cannot tie a knot.
    YMMV

    It should be considered that a person new to all this and inundated with confusing and seemingly conflicting info might accidentally build some harmless redundancy into their hang. This
    can especially happen when faced with the wild array of cool stuff that works in the realm of suspensions. It may not always be knot ability impairment.

    Flexibility, better reach. Sometimes, if the trees are close, I skip the whoopies and attach the loops over the buckles/toggles. 6' straps allows me to hang from big trees in old growth , while the buckle/toggle keeps the attachment point close to the tree on the smaller ones, so my butt isn't dragging on the ground
