Hanging in Indian Heaven SW Washington

Hi Everyone,,,,, Just back from a hang in Indian Heaven.... I hiked up into the area called Indian Racetrack. It was sooooooooooooooo quiet hanging in a large meadow and watching the stars at night. I even saw a few elk grazing in the meadow. I took my UL Grand Trunk for this outing when I should've took my Half-wit...... ..... skeeters were out for blood..... ,but it was all worth it being outdoors away from city dwellers with all the noise and confusion..... I will head back up there in the fall with all the fall colors and no bugs.. IMG_4388.jpgIMG_4338.jpgIMG_4362.jpgIMG_4387.jpg

Indian Heaven is also known as Mosquito Heaven. My first trip there was also in July long ago- September wasn't as buggy. We have a photo of our 2 man tent with 8 people in it taking a break while waiting for a slower group member to show up.

Yes the Mosquito's were semi bad,but the No-see-em's are soooooo much worst. I like hitting the trails in that area in October for all the colors and no bugs....

Did you see sasquatch? I hear he likes to lurk around that area.

I spent a week out there last September. And the October the year before that. I like the stormy October. The crisper air, colder temps. There is so many places to go there. I wish I could go back in time and see the gatherings there. I wish I knew how to post pictures

Have to agree, beautiful peaceful place that fills me with wonder. Its history almost feels palpable at times. Never spent a week there though! Sounds great
