I was gifted a full coverage Walmart tarp. It works great. I can bring it for you.

Winter is my fav time but just hard to justify the gear cost for everything i want to do!

I had the same thought in my head till I finally realized, if I buy the good stuff once it will last me many many seasons. last year i froze at the frozen butt hang,,, I will not be having that happen again

If people are concerned about not having good enough gear, let people know your needs. Most of us have extra gear and don't mind sharing. Be a shame to miss out for no good reason.

Seriously, the "Da Shack" hang is a great place to evaluate gear without being cold all night. WE HAVE DA SHACK. It be warm in der.
Plus, like Dux said, we have additional gear to share.
However, if you get cold, we urge you to say something. Hammock hangers usually have gear options, and always have sincere advice.
Been der, done dat. Learnt it too.

I am going to do my best. I like being self sufficient. Worst case is I throw three of my zippo hand warmers in with me. I also plan on getting some costco throws and double stuffing to get additional layer. And since its car camping, a few extra blankets cant hurt lol.

Site selection, of which there's plenty at Da Shack, can make up for lack of tarp coverage. Within reason, of course...

Everybody seems to think they can jump right into cold weather camping......ain't gonna happen. Unless your pockets are REALLY deep, take your time. Gain some experience with your setup, and add insulation when you can. You'll end up with gear that fits YOU that way, and possibly save some dough in the long run.

Plus, as others have said, most of us have extra gear. AND there's Da Shack!!
