Almost. I donated some unused gear to one other local group led by a forum member, but that is all!

Your scout was really done wrong. You were the one that decided to right that wrong. How could I not help? I had the other half of his tarp! (4 yards of the right color sil)

Monique has a couple of kids that want to backpack and are willing to DIY, but can't afford gear. She was willing to teach them to sew, so I gave them some material.

And I almost forgot: Happy Birthday Monique!

It looks pretty cool on a merit badge sash too, along with a really unusual slide.
Happy Trails to one and all.

Here is a photo of one of the boys hammock set up. Not the best photo but the hammock is nice. He likes to set up over brush and small trees.

Nice! Our troop spent this summer making 20 hammocks with fronkey bug nets and sewing hex tarps out of brown walmart tarps. It took WAY longer than anticipated (like 2 months) but 12 of the boys and 3 adults spent the week of High Adventure in them. Looking forward to when the temps go down enough to sleep outdoors (95 and humid does not make for comfortable sleep)!

Keep up the good work, love seeing their skills grow.

Just call it an award (like the 50 miler and others http://www.scouting.org/scoutsource/Awards_Central.aspx) then adults could earn it as well.
