As a scout leader we are always trying to add life skills the boys. Making them more rounded in life and expose them to possible future careers. Or next cottage vendor.

There is also a list of merit badge requirements, but I could not find it at this time
Thanks, that's it. It's the official Unofficial Hammock Merit Badge. Very nice indeed.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

    Love it.

Currently staffing a National Youth Leadership Training course, and I hauled my thread injector to camp to sew all the staff's CSP patches on their uniforms. Some of the youth staff was giving me some gentle ribbing about being a guy who can sew. I went to the van and pulled out my ACU camo 11' hammock in matching bishop bag, and threw it up in 2 trees out front. Once the boys saw that some of them were asking how hard it was to learn to sew LOL.

Thanks for helping Scouts! We desperately need more Scouting in this world.

Today is my birthday! View from my hammock this AM.
    IMAG0539.jpg

Yesterday I took the Crew out for a 3000' elevation over 3miles backpack. We added on a 3mile r/t and 1000' elevation hike to a lake in the afternoon. This morning we woke up qt 5am to watch the sunrise over Mt Washington and the Three Sisters then hiked out. I have three more youth interested in ordering fabrics and sewing hammock/tarp set-ups!

    So much fun!

There is an unofficial one some in the forum have promoted within their local troops. It can be a lot of fun and a great teaching tool. There are a few different versions of the requirements that mimic the camping merit badge but it also includes making their own gear.
Happy Trails to one and all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONIQUE!!! And thank you for introducing those boys to life skills that cross gender barriers typically! We have a daughter and she is a Girl Scout. My wife is the head leader and I am a registered leader too. We have tried to raise her to do things she wants and learn skills she needs and forget about what girls or boys are "supposed" to do. I have sewn flyrod socks and my wife and I put together a big fleece crazy quilt yrs ago. Sewing is a VERY valuable skill to have! I actually learned how to lash three poles together for a tripod at a father/daughter GS campout!! That's good stuff right there! Keep up the good work and have an enjoyable hang, ALWAYS!

It wouldn't be the first time you helped a scout, I will be spending a week at summer camp with another boy you helped with just some $$. I would bet this is not the only 2 either...
