    Suggestions for SHT sections.

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask this, but I figured this would be as good as any. My question is mostly for you Minnesotans who religiously hike the SHT. I'm a 17-year old Michigander, and I'm coming to MN to visit my Sister who now lives there. While we're there, we're planning on a two night trip on the SHT. My sister is in her twenties, and my parents, who will also be coming, are 45 and 50. We have proper gear for this sort of trip, and my sister and I have at least a moderate level of experience on wilderness trips. Any suggestions on a good section to hike and/or a shuttle service to get back to the car would be greatly appreciated.

Tons of great sections. Most of the best are south of Grand Marais. Check the SHT website for trail and shuttle info.....

Thanks Shug. I did have a question about that: It gives the distance north-south. Does that account for actual trail distance, or is that a birds eye perspective from point A to point B?

Actual trail distance but it is accurate more or less.

I like me some East Agnes Lake in the mornin.

Nice hammock site, I would avoid it on weekends as the few times I have been through on a Friday or Saturday it is packed with tents on the actual trail. Nice and empty on a Wednesday with hang sites right next to the water.

East and West Poplar River sites are nice, catch a view on the way there. Also a place to avoid on weekends.

Cascade River SP to Lutsen is a nice easy hike but not much in the way of Lake Superior views. Drop people at Cascade River SP, drive back to Lutsen, leave the car at the Lutsen trailhead, catch the Superior Shuttle back to Cascade, reserve the Lookout Mountain backpacking site in the State Park in advance or stay at the Indian Creek site, and make your way down to Lutsen at a leisurely pace.

Lots of nice spots on the SHT, tough to go wrong with any sections of it.
My favorite is Lutsen to Temperance River SP.
Or Silver Bay to Split Rock Lighthouse SP.
Or Crosby-Manitou SP to Tettegouche SP.
    Or...heck any of it.
