I can't remember the brand, I bought it at my local Co-op some years ago and stumbled onto it in my shed (I believe it's 36.8%) so a little goes a long way. But there is a mixing scale I googled for the right mixture. I mixed the solution in a 5 gallon bucket (2oz in 1 gallon of water...I think) and submerged everything in there and let it soak for about 5 min. Rung it out and hung it up to dry.

Hey, do a little research before buying it in bulk... apparently most (but not all) of the bulk stuff has some undesireable ingredient in it. Like an oil or something if I recall.

Used this stuff for a week long hike on the AT just below Roan Mt. Just diluted down to between 1% and .05% (like Sawyers) and it worked great. Does have distilled petroleum products, but didn't have any smell or staining to worry about.

Probably what the previous post was about this is actually intended as a pesticide rather than simply a repellent, so you might want to research why not to use it as it could contain other pesticide ingredients that you don't want in contact with your skin

This is the one I use for all my outdoor clothes/gear. Does not have the petroleum smell.

I second this. I switched from the 36% with Petroleum Distillates to the 10% without PD. While they are both effective, and should not harm a person, the versions containing PDs have a noticeable smell to them that the Martin's 10% did not. Also, while they may not cause harm to a person, my daughter with sensitive skin found that the clothes I used the 36% (diluted to 0.5% properly) solution on were causing her to itch. She wasn't aware that they were treated with a different version of the product. I've also heard that the distillates might effect some of the higher end fabrics we use, so I steer clear of those on my hammocks, tarps, nets, etc.

This summer I found that my treated hammock kept a lot of insects away. I still use a half bug net though. Anyone have any experience skipping the bugnet with a treated hammock? It would be nice on those hot and humid nights to be able to roll that back and have better airflow.

I just treated a bunch of my stuff yesterday. I bought Permethrin 10 at TSC. I diluted it 20:1 for a 0.5% mixture. This is the same as the spray bottle percentages. I bought this due to it not having the other additives.
I mixed 80 ounces of water to 4 ounces of Permethrin 10. I soaked my hammock, including the whoopee slings as well as several lightweight hunting shirts, pants, facemask, etc. this was my first experience and while wet, I could smell the active ingredient but once it dried last night, there was hardly any odor at all.

I look forward to seeing how well this does on the hunting stand.

This post came about at just the right time. I am going to be treating a bunch of my stuff this week for an up coming trip. I have never used the stuff and wasn't exactly sure how harmful it would be, I read all of the warnings and instructions but just have no experience with it.
