Good questions, savage brewer and good answers and tips. I also have DIY CS Apex quilts. Because of lack of space, when I store them I put them in garbage bags and squeeze/compress them down before putting them in a plastic storage bin. They never stay fully compressed and I always find the lid from the bin popped off...kinda like dough rising. I basically do the same thing when putting them into my pack, and the plastic bag helps keep them dry.
If you don't mind, I'd like to add another question along with yours......

As always, great information from all. A tag on question I have is in relation to the temperature ratings. What are the opinions on the temperature ratings posted on RSBTR? Are they fairly accurate? Is it workable to build a zero degree kit when considering bulk?

Try rolling the quilt like a sleeping bag and tying it with shoelaces or something, then do the airtight garbage bag (and then put in tote). I have done this for motorcycle trips, but put the tied/bagged quilt in a home made stuff sack. An old pillowcase works good too. Make sure they are completely dry first before storing, air out well or put in dryer on low heat or no heat for 10-15 minutes.

Not sure if anyone has ever discussed cleaning gear so here is my 2 cents worth:
To "deep" wash a synthetic fill quilt I would do front load / commercial machine on gentle cycle with cold water and a small amount of mild detergent, dry on low heat or air dry. High heat will kill ripstop & synthetics. Water repellency in fabrics makes gear difficult to clean as you are trying to get water through a fabric designed to repel water. Washing should only be done when absolutely necessary or at the end of the season because laundering / cleaning is harsh and will age the quilt faster. Any hooks / fasteners on the quilt may damage the fabric so if they are permanently sewn on, consider giving it a surface cleaning - wipe down with a damp rag / washcloth (wring out excess water) or do a "wash" with very diluted soapy water and then "rinse" several times with clean water (then air dry).
If you are a DIY person consider using a breathable fabric if you want to have something that will wash well.

Good idea.....never thought about rolling it up first.

I haven't washed mine since making it a few years ago. It definetly has my scent on it....

I'd like to add a question... on the CS UQ how to store compressed or uncompressed?
"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”

STore it uncompressed. It's ok to compress on a trip though - just don't make a rock out of it.

Because I don't have the space on the boat to store mine uncompressed, I keep them in a tote in the back of my escort wagon. I know that's not ideal but it is all I can do.

To confirm even more, baffles not needed, as the climasheild does not shift and bunch like down.

I store my synthetic quilts and sleeping bags, loosely folded over, in plastic bins that are kept under my bed.
