I thru-hiked it in March and it was a fun walk. I'd be interested in attending if it's the 1st week of November. I'll bring my puppy. Thanks for the invite!

OK so here is my idea. Nov. 4 thru 10.
Nov 4. Meet up at Talimena State Park. Those that can get there early with me. Take a vehicle to Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Do water/food drops (or anything else someone might want/need) on trip back at Hwy 259 crossing, Horsethief Springs, and Deadmans gap. Enjoy camp and everyone can show up at whatever time works best for them.
Nov. 5. Head out and do 8 miles to Deadmans gap TH.
Nov. 6 - 11.9 miles to Horsethief springs
Nov. 7 - 10.6 miles to 259 Crossing TH
Nov 8 - 10.7 miles - Stealth camp 2 miles east of Kiamichi River crossing
Nov. 9- 10.4 miles to Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Camp over night and then load up and travel back to Talhimena State Park on the 10th.
These can be changed if it works best for everyone. Also if someone can't make the first day or needs to drop out earlier we can drop their vehicle at point they need to drop.
Does everyone want to do all correspondence here or create a bulk email? If anyone wishes to connect thru emails mine is [email protected]. Put Ouachita Trail in the subject line. If anyone prefers I can BCC them on the list, just let me know when you email me.
Try looking into the Eagle Rock Loop Trail, as well. It's in the Ouachita Mountain Range/Lake area. Gorgeous and rewarding for sure!
I'm interested. Thanks for putting this together!
That is election week. My wife is running for State House (District 74, Owasso) here in OK. and we will be busier than heck that week-end with GOTV and final door knocking. I'm out.
Thanks for putting this together though. Hope to catch another group hang and meet some of you folks.
I can't attend this fall, but making this a yearly event is a great idea. Maybe I can make one down the road someday. I've done the first sections of the OT a few times, and it's a great place to hike. Good to see some other folks here from OK!
This may be a bit early, but are there any attendees driving from the DFW or southern OK area?
My wife needs to be in school for the first day of the hike which means I won't have a car available to me to get there (she may try to join up with us at Deadmans gap TH).
I'm looking for a ride from near DFW and could meet you within a couple hours of the DFW area. I'm willing to kick in on fuel or whatever else is needed.
My other thought is to catch a bus into McAlester, OK (which is cheap and would be a fun adventure as I've never ridden a bus). Would anyone be willing to give me a ride from there?
Thanks!
