    Trail Help!!!!!

I live in Ann Arbor Michigan, and am currently trying to plan a 4-5 day trip hiking around 10-15 miles per day. I was wondering if anybody knows of anywhere that is really cool around this area (at most I'd like to drive 7 hours or so). I know of pictured rocks and daniel boone national forest, but besides these two, what else is there?

    Trail Help!!!!!

You could try the Midland to Mackinaw trail. It's 210 miles almost entirely in state forests. I don't think you could do all of it, but the final portion runs through heavily populated areas (relative to the rest of the trail). It's very rustic and doesn't quite have as picturesque views of the lakes as pictured rocks but very enjoyable hike.

Pictured Rocks, the Porcupine Mountains, Isle Royale are all 8-10 hours but well worth the drive to experience some of Michigan's best trails, IMO. You could spend 4-5 days on North Manitou, but you wouldn't get the miles you're looking for.

I like doing 10-15 and even 20 mile days, so I've been getting my fix by doing section hikes on the North Country Trail (www.northcountrytrail.org). You can do out and back trips, but it's worth it to arrange a ride with a NCT Trail Angel. Here's some links to my NCT trips over the last 2 years:

FYI, if you want to get out and meet some other Michigan hangers, a bunch of us are getting together this weekend:

Thanks for all the help! I did hear about the porcupine wilderness, but the drive is kinda long. Would it be worth the drive do you guys think? I have also been looking into the laurel highlands. It seems to be about the right length but would it be too crowded?

I wonder if there is anything in Ontario? Maybe some Canadian friends can chime in...that is, if they want to let us dirty greasy Americans in

Is the Cranberry Wilderness (WV) within your travel range?

Good one. I think they want to keep it a secret, otherwise they wouldn't do all the trail maps in kilometers . The La Cloche Silhouette Trail near Killarney has been on my radar for a couple years, but not sure if I'm up for navigating the Canadian park system: https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/killarney

If Canada has some great trails then tell me! I think right now the cranberry wilderness looks the most intriguing, but it would be nice to escape to somewhere a bit colder... Killarney seems nice but it's like a 9 hour drive for me.
