we're a true 4 season state in arkansas. hot as blazes in the summer but i do it all the time. it takes some strategic trail selection but it works.

the worst thing to happen to me while hammocking is once, i forgot the hammock.

    yep.............cheers; sv-

The worst part of hammock camping in Mississippi is the heat. I refuse to hang outdoors unless the overnight temps get into the lower 60s. Thank God for air conditioning and an understanding wife so now I hang inside full time. My back has never been better.

The worst part of hammock camping or any camping in Southern California for that matter is the heat and the lack of water. Trying to gain enough to altitude to escape the heat is difficult unless to drive five hours to get to 7000-8000 feet to get to 80 degrees or so. You never know if your going to be able to find water unless you drive that five hours, so your toting a lot of water weight with you. All the sage and chapperal can make finding trees a challenge. The people are another problem. I just returned from a trip to central Oregon and the people there respect the land so must more the they do here. But all that being said I guess no place is perfect and it could always be worse, so I enjoy what I have.

The heat in Florida is bad, but for me the worst part of hammock camping is the lack of mountains. I love the variety of terrian, from sand to pine forest, to old growth forests and jungle terrain. Sometimes all in the same hike, but no mountains or mountain views. I miss that sometimes.

    Occasionally snow in June.

The worst part about loving Hammock camping is drooling at all the beautiful trip pics while not being able to go!

Florida has very little elevation changes. Beautiful rolling hills in places, but no tall grades.

And no snow. We have been to 23*F in Annual Florida Hangs but no snow.

Also very humid. Northerners can handle 85* up North, but add in Florida's 95% humidity and it stops most. Make it 95-99 in both temp and humidity and only Floridians are outside.

For a short story: Most wouldn't want to hang in Summer in Florida, but we love it at the No UQ Hang in July. The afternoon storms can drop the temp 25-30* in a very short time in the woods. Last year I had to use my UQ due to CBS in July (No UQ Hang) and September (Summer's Last Gasp Hang). Both hangs at night just go too cold for me due to dropped temps in the woods and breezy nights. Also, I didn't need a bugnet either hang. Go figure for Florida in Summer.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

The worst part about hammock camping anywhere is when you accidentally put your whoopie sling on the toggle and not the knot.

I'd quote a certain book, but that is not allowed.
