Advice on height and length for stand?

I have read all I can find on various stand types and researched the particular one I want to make. Frankly it is so much information that I cannot remember the the details on a couple specific points or where I found them.
I am going to make a three person triangular stand. Using 1-3/8" top rail with canopy fittings and the appropriate guy lines. I have an 11' Dutchware and my wife and son each have Grams Trunk Skeeter Beeters (if this matters?). We all have 12' wide tarps. This part is not my question and I would desire not to derail the thread. I just thought I would include relative data.

How high and long does the ridge pole need to be? My first inclination is 6' high and 12' long. But, I could buy a lot less pipe if I went 5' high and 10' long. I could rig up extensions for tarps. Plus over maximum length would be reduced to 5' IF we needed to use my wife's car instead of my truck.

I use a less than 6' height TDS with a 10' ridge pole and it's just right in length. Don't like it because there's no room for adjustments and it forces my tarp over the pole.

I would like to increase the height of stand and length of pole to allow for adjustments. Going to 6' minimum and maybe 7' height may be better with a minimum 12' pole up to 14' pole. I'm 5'9" for comparison.

This will give me adjustments from standing height to lower storm mode while tarp is under the ridge pole. Also, it allows for the hammock suspension to have a little play in it for better comfort and adjustability.

Good luck finding your perfect hang.

That kind of confirms my first inclination of 12' & 6'.
This particular design is well suited to tarp over ridge pole but under would not be an issue either (if the ridge pole is long enough).

Yea, my Tato stand is 6 foot legs with a 13' ridge poll but I have a Warbonnet Ridgerunner which requires the extra length in the ridge pole. The beauty of the Tato kit is I can change my ridge poll in 10 seconds to a 12,11, or 10. I believe you will be satisfied with 6 feet high and 12 feet long.

FWIW for two setups 2 fence top poles will be very tight. 3 will give you a lot of room to play and then scrap. 2x4 or conduit come in 8-10 ft lengths. You don't want to splice them. Start high and work down if you are worried.
    YMMV
