How long are your CL's? I made a couple knotted ones out of amsteel (didn't splice - might look into that though..) that I larks-headed onto two 'suspension rings' from HomeDepot (they are just steel rings with around 500lb workload) which I use like a motorcycle helmet strap. They are a little long though...

Of course any American hangers who choose to attach their suspension to these zip-ties may find they come in handy for securing their broken bone shards back together after their suspension fails.
Thanks for that explanation. As an American, I don't always have the ability to think like a Canadian!

Those zip ties are kind of scary to get off they are so tight. I now ask Dutch to leave them loose so I can easily remove them and replace with loops.

Maybe I am misunderstanding things.... but if you leave the zip-ties in the channel and larkshead below that, don't you end up with a big, ugly, fist sized lump hanging off at each end of your hammock and a hammock that is then a couple of inches shorter than it needs to be?

Yes but prior to my spiffy Dutch hammock I was doing tablecloth hammocks; where you have a few wraps at end of material to hold the gathered ends together when not in use. So the big ugly lump did not seem amiss. I was thinking zip ties were the same and left them in.

    All good now though.

There is one especially clear, easy to follow instruction on making 8" CLs with 7/64" amsteel blue. (his name is Ian) rock solid. I feed them through the sewn channels with a 7" long piece of tubing easy peasey
