The worst of the storm is just starting to hit the northern Outer Banks. Before sunset, I could see the tops of waves being blown off ... meaning that the wind was at least 35 mph. Power is still on for now. I expect to lose it by morning. It will be an interesting night but, this should not be as bad as hurricane Hermine was a few weeks back.

Greg, how are you doing down in Ottway?

Yeah looks like the outerbanks did not get hit hard (or at least yet).

    Greg?
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.

Got power back about 4pm to day. Lost it around midnight. Not much damage here. I could see where water had come over the roads. The island, atlantic beach, is without power so there is a curfew. Might not get power till tues. Of course, food lion had a generator so we were open.

I figured you had lost power when we didn't hear from you. Glad all is OK.

Like The Terminator said, we lost power for awhile. For us, this was a sleeper hurricane.... I slept thru it. Some wind and rain here but no damage. At least it brought some cool weather into the area. Feels like fall now.

I'm ready to get out and hang. I spent all day moving my mother out of her home which more than likely will be flooded out tomorrow. Need to get away and relax.
