Saratoga Performing Arts Center - SPAC - hammocks allowed?

Hey all, this is my first post here on the hammock forums (yee-haw)! Just wondering if anyone from upstate NY has ever had any luck hanging their hammocks during a performance at SPAC. I'm specifically talking about an upcoming Phish show, which may have looser rules. I know it's technically within the Saratoga State Park, and I'm not too familiar with NY's laws regarding hanging in state parks. Anyone have any input? I just want to hang it up and get kicked out, or worse yet, have my hammock taken away!!

Hmmm, good question. I've been to SPAC many times but never seen anyone hang a hammock. It's been a couple years since I was there, but I'm having a hard time picturing where you even would hang one and still be able to see the performance. The general admission area out side of the amphitheater is just a big wide open grassy hill.

I agree with Yukon, can't say I have seen hammocks or tents for that matter at SPAC. You may want to call them just to be sure.

At first guess, I would say def not.. I was a security supervisor there in the late 90's and that would of drawn our attention very quickly. Soo many people go there a season and the lawn and grounds take a beating every year. After a particular rainy rock show ( Godsmack if I remember right) they had to re-turf the whole lower lawn.. BIG MONEY..

Outside the event center in the surrounding grounds/park? They are patrolled by NY State Park Police and I believe DEC frowns on stressing park trees etc... Just hang that baby and if they have an issue they will simply just swing by and tell you nicely to take it down.. They are after the drunks, drug dealers that prowl the grounds and the bigger problems to worry about than you enjoying a pre-show hang
