    Buginator and Permetherin

I've got a Buginator that I'm about to use and I've been advised to spray the bottom-entry area and the two ends where the hammock suspension enters with permetherin. Is the best way to do this, just to install the Buginator on the hammock and spray those area in place? TNX. Seems like a very simple question, but just want to make sure I'm not overlooking the obvious.

I'm not sure who's advising you of that. Just spray or dunk the whole thing.

Why/what's the advantage of spraying the whole thing? Don't you treat the areas where they could enter?

I have never treated my Buginator. I have never had any issues. It is a good design and if used properly is sufficient "as-is".

All you need to do is rest a body part on the untreated net and mosquitoes will feast on you. A better question is: what's the advantage of not spraying the whole thing? Could you possibly save a 1/4 ounce of permethrin?

I once fell asleep with my hand resting against the untreated bugnet. When I woke up, my hand was swollen to twice its normal size. I don't know how many mosquitoes bit me, but they had a feast.

It bonds with material at a molecular level and won't rub off on anything once dried.

Soaking is always preferred over spraying IMO. No over spray. To make soaking things easier I mix up 5 gal and always end up with enough to take the sprayer around the base of my house foundation inside and out.

I do wear latex gloves when dipping gear, and a paper paint mask, when spraying the excess off. Besides that, no other precautions short of common sense. Don't spray or soak the neighbor's cats. Stuff like that.

I would like to throw a couple of questions to the discussion. Does anyone here use the permethian from a farmers supply like what is used on horses? If so what is the ratio you use to soak?

I use the 10% Permethrin Concentrate to soak my hiking clothes and bug net. Mix ratio - 6.75 oz. to 1 gallon (128 oz) water = 5% mix.

There's a few other threads as well, but that's got a pretty good cross section.

    = 5% mix.
Need to make sure you dilute it to 0.5 % not 5.0%
