Not sure how much detail you want? Are you using a fixed length ridgeline? Does your hammock have an integrated bugnet or netless? Do you have continuous loops at the gathered ends? These things kind of determine your options for a ridgeline.

Aside from the nearly limitless info on HF, here are a few others:

The Ultimate Hang has lots of good info. I'd suggest the book, but you may also find what you want on the site: http://theultimatehang.com/hammock-camping-101/
Most of our favorite cottage vendors have an adjustable hammock ridgeline made of zingit or lashit made into a whoopie sling sized for a hammock ridgeline.
For a fixed ridgeline you can put an eye splice on both ends. This can be done without doing the Toss Inversions. Just splice one end, measure (allow for some shrinkage caused by second bury) and make a locked brummel on second end--Yes you can pull the already spliced end through your second locked brummel. Then bury to finish your second splice. Good luck!
