    CA>SoCal>Group Hang wanted!

Hey all, I'm a new transplant to Los Angeles looking for a group hang or meetup in the area. I've never been to a hang before, but it sounds like fun! I'm am intermediate level hanger, but looking to do more and learn more.

Been reading here a ton, but would enjoy a group activity in person. And it didn't look like anything was happening in the SoCal area besides the April event I missed.

Hello, fellow So Cal. hanger. I would be up for a hang going to have to head up hill to some elevation this time of the year or wait till fall.

Summers fly by for me, and eheinzee is right, you gotta go for elevation (or stick by the coast). Both require leaving So Cal proper.

Just thinking out loud, where would a So Cal hanger go for reasonably cool weather, not too far North if you had a few days say the week of July 17th?

I'm open to car camp or a moderate backpack.

I've only been here a year, but there are two places i've gone hiking that appear to be potential spots. Topanga State Park in Santa Monica has some nice trails and supposedly group camp sites. Alternatively (and a bit out of the city), the San Gabriel River has a fun trail that follows the East Fork River. I think there may be a group site nearby there with a decent hike to the Bridge to Nowhere.

I just found that there is a Facebook SoCal Hang group, going to peruse that for ideas as well...
