Tree kills man in BWCA June 19th

Big storm last night here in Minnesota up in the BWCA and a man was killed from a falling tree. Another man severely injured. http://www.startribune.com/trees-fal...red/383629351/
They were heading out of the woods. Don't think they were in hammocks.
We risk a lot everytime we go camping. Never forget that.

Oh man that's terrible news. The wife and I were out on an evening hike on the NCT and had to hoof it back when we saw the weather turning. That was an epic system that rolled through, I'm saddened it took a life up there. Grim.

Very sad to hear. I saw the bad weather heading up there and was worried for any one hanging in their hammocks or camping.

Always take the time to evaluate the trees before you hook up. Not just up, but also below as in the trunk and root system.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Man dies after branch falls on him in Trinity Bellwoods Park

We had something similar happen here recently in Toronto. Nothing he could've done; just plain old bad luck. My sympathies go out to both families and especially to the pregnant woman he was with, whom I can only assume was his partner. Tragic.

Sad to hear. May the deceased rest in peace and the injured recover well. Stay vigilant out there, folks.

Alot of stuff happens everywhere but you cannot be afraid to go outside or to get out there!. If you let that happen it's all over anyway!

With the electronic age it makes it easier and faster to report the news to a larger population. Years ago most people outside the area where such a tragedy happened would never hear about it.

Very sad happenings. I still contend that being in town is just as risky, if not more risky. It seems like people die every day from car wrecks and accidents and murder and what not. We just have to take calculated risks and enjoy our lives until they are over. I've very resentful for my limited time but I'm glad I don't know how much time I have left. It would spoil it for me.
    Keep on the sunny side!

Every time I fall into the fear trap I realize that life requires risk-taking in order to be fully enjoyed.
