Question Trek Light Gear vs Ticket to the Moon (double, for sleeping)

    Dear Hammockers,

I've been looking to buy a double Hammock for sleeping for some time now. Every time I end up at Trek Light Gear being the company I'm the biggest fan of, BUT Ticket to the Moon having better colors (sorry TLG) and better delivery terms/price (since I'm in Europe I'll have to order online and pay an import tax either way).

My question is: does anyone have any experience (sleeping) with both brands? I'm interested in a double hammock for sleeping.

I'm of course especially curious if there are any big differences in the model/usability/comfort. What I gather so far there won't be that much difference.

Also, a weird somewhat unrelated question, but part of me wants to buy a totally green hammock because of it's camouflage properties (and restful look in general), but part of me also wants to go Designer and pick out some colors I really love in terms of aesthetics. If anyone has some experience (in line of 'i went for fluorescent pink and was killed by a lion on a safari' or 'i went for camo but wish I went fashion because I only hang at the beach anyway') it would be welcome :-) I'm a new hammocker, and I'm somewhat anxious to buy something online without being able to 'feel' it first with my own eyes and hands. Any input is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any input or experiences! :-)

I can't speak for trek light but I have a few TTM's and love them. An all black single is one huge sprawling piece with no seams and coupled with a good incubator (getting it this fall) would be a great camping hammock. Its about as large as an Ego double and I use it to sleep in my room via hammock stand. I have a couple colored versions but like Eno they have seams where the color changes (as do the larger TTM's)

I do hope you are not dreaming of sleeping two-up in one hammock!

there was a study of tent colors and bears in the US a while ago. the bears inspected the brightly colored camps much more frequently, This was true even when leaving smelly things with the tents that might entice the bears. I think the theory was that the curious nature of bears was often peaked by the unusual colors. I think that might be transferable to hammocks

A Trek Light double was the first hammock I ever owned and what led me the Hammock Forum. I still have it, use it from time to time, and love it. 10 foot and really wide. Supper comfy and well made.
