The seller weighed it (I have not) and said 25' of the 3/8 tape weighs 1.9oz.

So a tad over 2grams / foot? Is my math correct?

Oh, and I haven't seen Dutch's kevlar straps in person, but at their low weight they must be thinner than paper!!!

*** Not a criticism by the way - I want some!

    Kevlar 3/8" strap weight

Mine came in today. !00 feet weighs 170.6 grams on my scale. So the sellers listed weight matches my results fairly closely, although I find it is less weight than what was claimed.

The thickness is comparable to Dutch's old kevlar straps, and the weave is a little bit looser on the 3/8" strap. Dutch's new kevlar straps are noticeably thinner, and the weave is much tighter.

    Thanks dblhmmck.

Please post pics of your sewn loop when done. Don't think I'll get to mine for awhile.

Dutch gave me some kevlar straps to try about six months ago (2.2, I think), but I haven't actually tried them. However, I always carry them as a backup to my poly tree straps!

Since there has been some interest in the weight of this strap, I now have some actual weights as it compares to amsteel. I stated working with my 3/8" kevlar for my bridge hammock. I have sewn the loops for the ends of my lateral arcs, which was no problem with a wide zig-zag stitch.

Before I sewed it to the hammock body, I put it on the scale. The length of material that I am using is about 5' 10". I cut a piece of 7/64 amsteel the exact same length, and weighed it too. The strap per side weighs 11 grams. The amsteel weighed 9 grams per side. So I am looking at only a 4 gram penalty using this instead of amsteel. I am hoping this 3/8" strap rolled into the hem will be more comfortable than cordage, when my legs hang over the side edges of my bridge hammock.

    Just arrived today (YAY!)

I plan to use it in lieu of regular Mule Tape in a strap plus mule tape suspension. For the loop end (to larkshead to my tree strap), would you sew a loop or tie a knot?

Sewing a loop seems best but I'm concerned about the loose weave and the narrow 3/8" width. If you think tying a knot is the way to go, what knot would you recommend?

This stuff is so light and cheap. 1800lbs strength, too. Oh one more thing: it's thinner than regular MT.

    Thank you!

Why are you even using this.
The whole idea of straps of any sort is to protect the tree from damage.
The smaller the strap the more likely you are to damage the tree-10mm will cause damage to some trees.
You might as well use a triple wrap of 10mm rope
