Dolly Sods - Planning a trip -- Need advice

Planning a trip to Dolly Sods and really want to bring the hammock instead of the tent. Unfortunately, I only have time for one night, so I'm thinking roughly 10 miles the first day, and 5 or less the second. Also, I'm wanting to start at the bear rocks trailhead. Any suggestions for me as far as routes and places to hang..?? Thanks guys!

I would take bear rocks to Raven ridge to rocky ridge then breathed mountain over to red creek trail when red creek trail hits blackbird knob trail follow it east until you hit a nice stream there are some good campsites there . The second day backtrack to upper red creek trail follow it to dobbin grade then on to bear rocks trail. If dobbin grade is sloppy take the dobbin grade bypass trail you can find info on it at midatlantic hikes it is not an official trail so if you are not comfortable going off official trails don't take it.

Sounds good.. Didn't know about that bypass trail. I will definitely look into that - I know Dobbin Grade can be a stream sometimes, especially with all this rain we've had. Thanks for the advice!

I've watched that one several times, along with Outdoor Adventures trip there as well.. Great videos! I've camped at Red Creek campground, but never out in the "wilderness" area.. Unfortunately, this weekend, the entire east coast from NC to NY looks to be crap weather..
