When you leave the woods and the next trip is in the planning stages...

Welllllll... after that solo trip, my husband was all inspired to start going with me. His birthday is this weekend and he asked for legit backpacking gear (he has only been backpacking with me once) so I set him up with stove, pack, cooking pot, spork, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, put a ridgeline on his hammock, treated his hammock with bug stuff (don't ask me to spell it please), got water proof sacks for his hammock and insulation, and made sure that I cold make two hammocks work under my tarp. All looks good to go!

I set his pack up as if we were ready to leave and just handed him his pack. He was like a kid at Christmas going through his little starter kit of gear. Then, I handed him a map! We are going to do the Pin-Chin-Sky loop in Talladega off the Pinhoti trail. He is so excited! The trip should be a relatively easy 9 miles each day so I'm not pushing him into anything crazy.

Keep an eye out for the pics to come!

That's awesome! Lucky man. I feel so blessed that my wife enjoys the outdoors with me. I hope y'all continue to share this passion together.

Will you be using Dutch's Double whoopie hooks and a spreader bar to hand together or did you have another plan?

He was talking about using Dutches spreader bar between the TWO hammocks under your tarp. you would each be in a different hammock.

edit: with the Double whoopie hooks.

Now THAT is something to consider! I've been just keeping the suspension wrapped to opposite sides of the tree or doing a narrow triangle.

Hey Daniel, I see you're new here and just made your first post. Welcome to the forums!

As a point of etiquette, it's generally considered "bad form" to "hijack" someone's thread to talk about something not related to the Original Post (OP). Additionally, this sub-forum is for "Trip Reports" and not gear talk.

The Mods will get you for talking about backpacks "out of school."

There is a sub-forum to discuss backpacks in the "Donating Member" section of this site. I highly recommend becoming a donating member and checking out the gear talk there. Lots of great information!

I picked up the Double Dutch Hooks on whoopies and the spreader bar on one of my last orders, haven't used them yet

Nice video. I wish I had a computer capable of editing any of my video's, not that I would know how to do that but want to learn. Nice setup you guys have.
