    Snugpak mods for closed/cinched ends

Modified for closed ends with shock through to channel lock.

Undid the shock cord on the two middle flaps to use for this project. Made a knot halfway on the continuous shock cord that goes through the hammock to carabiner(also put channel locks on the outside continuous cords at both ends for easy adjustment). Left over shock cord that comes with UQ is secured to corners and goes up and through the knot to keep UQ pulled taught at the ends so it doesn't sag and bunch in the middle. Shock cord that goes through the UQ to close the ends is actually though the inside of the fabric, will probably buy some ripstop and make a channel and sow it on eventually but got trigger happy and wanted to get it done. Hopefully this illustrates the function.

As opposed to the way it comes leaving large gaps.

I understand that this will eventually compromise the structure but it was $50 and will get me though a couple seasons until I can graduate to the good stuff!
Hope this work for you or at least gives you some ideas ; )

I had thought about trying something like that on mine and wondered how well it would work. As it is i just tied the shockcord together in the middle and when i want to seal it up i tie the ends together over my ridgeline. It stil leaves small gaps though.

I don't know that it will compromise the structure all that much. It's not putting much stress on the fabric is it? The weight of the quilt is still being held by the side cords right? So i would think you would be fine as is.

Having done it, in retrospect I would rather sow a channel on at each end to a have the same effect. Which is what I will most likely do in the near future. The majority of the weight is being supported by the continuos outside cords but is shared at the corner flaps. So far I haven't noticed too much stress at the corners but time will tell.
If you have a sowing machine and can add a channel for closed ends I would definitely recommend it, so much better than the gaps I had in it before. Seems strange to me that they would design it the way they did?

This is exactly what was needed on these. My wife and I both have been considering doing the very same thing... Glad someone did it before we did so we know it will work... Figured it would though.

    It's functional for sure!
Want a better lighter system in the future but this will do for now.
