    Sew it on by hand would be the best option IMO.

    This won't help you this time, but on your next project you could machine sew the patch onto the fabric and then on the inside, seal the stitching line with seam sealer so the down can't escape.

    I see three good options. Option 1: You can always rip part of the seam, sew the patch on, seal as above, then sew your seam back up (this would likely look best). Option 2: I agree use a small needle and hand sew it on. Or option 3 (which I would probably end up doing): just machine sew it directly on. I have very limited experience with down, but I wouldn't think the few extra holes would be any worse than the holes for all your stitching already present.
