    Algonquin-Rain Lake Trip Report

    Algonquin- Rain Lake May 18th-23rd
    Algonquin 2016 027.jpg

Well another EGL trip is in the books. Great time was had by all. Chard was missed by all in attendance. We all hope that's the last trip you miss.
First off, a BIG thank you to Red Kanu. He got there on Wednesday and was able to secure the coveted island spot. Best site by far on Rain Lake. The weather cooperated and was great. The breeze on the island was enough to keep the black flies reasonable.
I managed to keep my streak alive and not catching a fish. I didn't feel so bad because when I left on Sunday no one else had caught anything either.
This was a wonderful trip for sounds and the lack there of. It was great to not hear a single car or truck while there. I also only heard one plane the whole time and it wasn't a commercial plane. Probably a private plane bringing some one in to their camp. Night time had the sounds of Loons and Owls, which I love. Also heard some loud tiny frogs called peepers. During the day you could stop and listen and only hear the wind going through the trees.
I also saw a Bald Eagle and some Golden Eagles. I didn't have my camera when I saw them so no pictures.

So here are some of the pictures.

Sorry if I missed you, your rig or boat. I tried.

I had an absolute wonderful time! Algonquin and those in attendance will always have a warm spot in my heart. Great place, Great People. I find myself becoming a little more Canadian each trip! I look forward to seeing all of you again soon. I can't wait for a Fall Algonquin trip. Thanks again to all of you for making this a great trip.

Grand job on the pics Bonnet. Thanks for posting so quickly. I hope to see you in the fall.

I would also like to thank everyone who organized this weekend and everyone who made the weekend superlative. It's amazing how interesting, sharing and friendly a bunch of "internet weirdos" can be

    Cheers until next time.

Beautiful area and thanks for sharing. I would love to go to this area one day. What time of year are the bugs "not bad" but yet the temps are still bearable (for a southerner)?

Nice pics. I'll add some pics in a couple of days. It was a very enjoyable trip with great fellowship, nice weather and very few bugs. Can't wait to get out again.

September is a good month. Late September early October is great for fall colours, no bugs and nice cool, crisp temperatures.

Wonderful pics Luv My Bonnet. I hope your trip home was uneventful. I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Looking forward to the next time.

Fall is absolutely the most beautiful time in Algonquin. And you'll have to be sure to come again because if you had a red rope for your bear bag I've rescued it and now have it in my pack

Looks like a blast. Hopefully next time I won't book my trip to Algonquin for the weekend. You folks had much better weather we had. Thanks for the report.
