VIDEO: Just got back from three days backpacking and hammock camping in the Linville Gorge.

A few weeks ago, I spent three days hammock camping and backpacking in the Linville Gorge Wilderness in Western North Carolina. I first heard about the Linville Gorge area while watching Shug’s awesome videos on the trail system there. I had a great time, hope you enjoy the video.

I also put together an article with details on our route, gear, and photos. Check that out here: http://craftedmagazine.com/hammock-c...inville-gorge/

Would love to camp out with y'all one night! You and Shug's adventures made the whole area look so fun, and the Gorge did not disappoint. One thing I missed was Louise's, we'll have to do that next time.

I was at the gorge Saturday but didn't get a chance to hiking much. I have a knee problem right now but as soon as I get it taken care of I'm going to the gorge for a couple of days.

Thanks for sharing. Nice views in that area. Excellent job on the video. You've gotta get that father in law in a bear burrito

Yea, he's a bit set in his ways, as is my wife. I'm going to try to get him to sleep in it one night in his backyard and maybe he'll see the light.

I can imagine having a knee problem wouldn't mix well with that area. Even my knees, which I have no trouble with, were a bit achy. Those trails are seriously rocky, even compared to the White Mountains where I did most of my hiking previously.

Opinions... Are there sections of Linville that would be appropriate for an experienced 10yr old hammocker? My son and I have hiked red river gorge in Kentucky extensively. So he is used to cliffs and paying attention to his surroundings. I do not want to get into a situation that would be too technical however.
