    What am doing wrong?

I can't seem to get comfortable in my Grand Trunk Double hammock. I put on a ridgeline and shortened it until the calf ridge went away. I took a picture of myself in the hammock. What does it look like I could change to get a better lie? Am I too far down? I tried to go higher up, but I lost my horizontal lie.

Try raising the footend a foot or so higher than the head end so you are laying closer to the head end of the hammock. Looks like you did exactly the opposite in the picture almost.
That looks like.considerably more sag than I put in my hammocks, though I know some do use that much especially with the wider hammocks. Did you try going the pther way with the ridgeline at all?

Thanks. I tried letting out the ridgeline, but I was getting a calf ridge. The whole thing doesn't feel right.

    The GT is 10' 6"
+1 on raising the foot end by hanging it higher on the tree before fiddling with the strap length.

I don't know what you tell you - I had a grand trunk double and it was just too much of too stretchy fabric for me. Tablecloth hammocks and dutch hammocks have been much better for me, as has an eno single. I just can't do doubles, but I certainly seem to be the minority. I sold mine to a boy scout getting started hammocking.

I had my wife start by laying in the middle, then use her legs to spread out the hammock. Once she felt where she is supposed to be in the hammock, rotate to find the right angle. It worked for her. I have a bb XLC and it took a similar routine for me to finally get comfortable.

Definitely raise the foot up, at least even with the head end, if not slightly higher.

I'll try raising the foot end. The other issue I was having is that because the ridgeline is so short, the tree straps are about as high as I can put them on the tree just to keep it off the ground.

+1 on the foot end higher - I like mine about 6" higher. I think the ridgeline might be too short.

If you find you're just not getting it, I don't mind meeting up with you to figure it out. Just PM me.
