Its not as difficult as it looks.
I did not finish the “foot end” in the test I made so it was open. The foot end would be the last thing I would do after I inverted the fabric. Could also be done if there was an opening for the pad. I did not make an opening for a pad ( I forgot) but because it was a scale test it doesn’t matter. I would have if it was a full size.
Loops for tie-outs can be added later. They don’t have to be between the fabric and the zipper but they could be.

To prevent a floppy opening you could add some Velcro. Just a few small strips would do the trick.

I made another small video demo today but I haven’t got the time to edit it. I expect it will be online Wednesday.
I don’t know how Papasmurf get the nice clean look but I guess he uses the coil on the zipper as a guide like me.

That looks nice. I will try hard to do the same. Theoretically I know it already how it works. One stich line is hidden. In case of a DL one can hide another one!!! My stitch lines are almost straight too, but I got a triplet.

I just uploaded a video tutorial to YouTube on making a double layer, reversible hammock with a sewn in bug net. I'd be interested in hearing feedback for changes or improvements.

    Thanks!

Two things I am concerned about.
IMO it’s not a good idea to cut into the zipper. Because you haven’t made a hem all the way along the sides the zipper acts as a reinforcement (the strongest part) but you have weakened by the cuts. The better option IMO would be to round the corners on the bugnet. Zippers and sharp corners is a bad combination.

Second is your hammock ends. Compared to channels the seams you made have to hold all the load in the hammock. When making a hammock and folding the fabric to a channel the seams do not hold the load alone because when fabric is folded and joined there is increased friction between the two layers (it’s your friend). In case your ends it starts to fail all is not lost if you stop using it in time. Put a cord inside your ends where your loops are today and tie a knot. Then larks head your loops on the hammock side. This way they won't be able to slip over the end because of the bulky ends.
