    Turtledog Stand vs. Bipod Stand

I have been searching through all the stand posts I could find and have narrowed it down to the Turtledog stand and the Bipod stand from this post, Bipod Stand.

Based on my local Lowe's the cost difference looks to be around $20 -$30 with the Turtledog being cheaper. I would be building either stand with 6 or 7 ft. legs and a 13-14 ft. ridge poll. From the posts it looks like the bipod stand has a slightly smaller foot print and is a bit sturdier. The turtle dog stand looks like it would be easier to disassemble and pack up.

I am looking for stand to be used in the backyard and inside the house but when not used can be broken down and stored away. The only tools I have is a drill and jigsaw. I will be at the mercy of Lowe's for the cutting.

I know there has to be more pros and cons against each other that I am not seeing. Any additional information between the two would be greatly appreciated.

Either of these are very good stands. The Turtle Dog offers a lot more lateral stability but otherwise each will work just fine. I wanted something that looked a bit more professional so i purchased the Tato kit and painted the legs and top rail with a forger hammer spray paint and it turned out very good.

I like the bipod stand better, it seems (to me) to be simpler and more straight forward. It can also be customized more to make it more easily portable, from what I can tell (i.e. shorter lengths to transport).

I have the bipod on my list, but only after a few more immediate projects.

You will need to get a hacksaw to cut the fence top rail in two pieces for ease of transport. I use a broom handle inside the two pieces or top rail for extra support. even though it is overkill. I like over engineered stuff so it lasts longer/ is heavier duty.

Get a metal-cutting blade for your jigsaw -- that will cut the top rail.

I’d go for the bipod stand
As a turtledog user I gotta say turtledog is tricky to get in and out of
My autistic son had it tip over on him so he’s scared of it now
Bipod will be more stable despite costing a bit more
