I'm new to Hammock camping. I actually haven't camped in a hammock yet but I can't wait as my dream hammock is on order to be made.
I live in Queens Ny. I'm planning on doing some Hammock camping in Harriman State park a few times this summer and then heading up north to the catskills for something a little more demanding.

I have a few friends in Astoria that like to backpack, but they use tents. They take a train up to the Appalachian Trail a few times a year.
