Call me a crabby old man if you like but....I hate when things go mainstream. The charm and uniqueness goes away and the whole thing becomes cliche.

    People ruin everything. :-)

This is absurd. $100 an hour to rent a few chairs and a couple flip over hammocks?! They can keep that. I'll take to the woods in a proper hammock for freebies.

I agree. This is an obscene amount of money to rent space on a river when there's so many beautiful places to hang for free

Also the hammocks are spreader bar hammocks. Ew.

I'm all for it, if it will keep those Philadelphians in the city of brotherly love (with a few exceptions), don't need them discovering the forests of Penn's woods (meant to be tounge in check)

I think $5/person for an hour or $10/person for 2 hours for a hangout spot on the river isn't bad. A nice little break if you're in town with a bunch of friends and chilling out on a summer evening after dinner, or before.

The hammocks have been popular in the Spruce Street pop up park and they added this "lounge" area that can be reserved. Happens to have a couple hammocks in it as well.

I agree it's part of a fad thing, both the hammocks and the pop up parks, but they seems to be popular and are in their 3rd year here in Philly.

Clearly this is about folks who enjoy the city, maybe some foodies and folks out to see a band or get together with friends. If you're not into going out in the city, then I don't think this will persuade to you do so.

Me, I enjoy my time in the woods but also enjoy getting into the city to see a show and grab something to eat. This is a nice little way to chillax by the river w/ some friends imho. If it doesn't work out, it won't be back next year.

I must have glanced over it too quickly, if it's $ 5 bucks an hour then that's a good deal, i like going to the city once in awhile but i don't like to stay too long ..Grew up in the city and i really enjoy my space now!!
Rather be hanging between 2 trees out in the woods anyday!!

Campdavid, You make a good point, but Hammocks are ancient. Fad's come and go, but the classics.. there's a reason they've stuck around this long.
