Throw a pillow under your knees. I find this really helps take pressure off my legs especially after a hike. This and usually half way through the night I end up sorta on my side (like a 45° angle, half on my back, half on my side). This along with making sure your head end is lower than your foot end really makes for a comfy hang.

Correction: The hammock is 4' 8" wide.

I'm 6' tall and the hammock is 4' 8" wide. I will definitely try lowering the head end of the hammock. I've been putting it up with the sides equal in height.

Your hammock is not wide enough by about a foot, and some would swear by going much wider still. I sleep in a wilderness logics night owl or my Dutch single Netless. I believe they are both around 58-60 inches wide and 11' long. With 110" ridgeline I can sleep on my back, left side or right side no prob.

+1 on hanging the foot end higher too. Mine is usually around 8-10" higher.

In addition to the great advice above, be sure to allow yourself time to adjust to the hammock. Some people find nirvana from the first night, but many of us (including me) needed several nights to adjust. Now I sleep well, but it took several nights to reach that state.

Try a 12x6 Hexon 1.6 gathered end hammock--it's very comfortable. Great almost flat lay for sleeping on your back, either side, fetal, stomach, and brahma bull style--you lay on your back in straight line with hammock and put feet to both sides like you're straddling a bull!

I borrowed a friends streamline from simply light designs, it's an 11ft, not sure on width of hand, but it's a cat cut, vast improvement over my Eno, I used my Eno twice and was never very comfy, granted I'm only 5ft 6in but I'm now planning on purchasing the 12ft one double layer. See if you can borrow other peopled extra hammocks to try them out.

In addition to all the advice you already got, I would like to mention that fabric stretch can also be a huge factor. In a stretchy hammock I feel like I'm lying in a bathtub, and I get back pain quickly. Less stretchy hammocks allow for a much flatter lay.

+1....think of hammocking as you would anything new you do physically...weightlifting, jogging, etc. It takes a little while for your muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc to get used to the new movements, stretches, and stresses being put on them.
