I just noticed these are on sale again....

while i was browsing through the vendors. The molly mac gear box is $50 with free shipping so I ordered one and have a question. what is the best way to suspend it? whoopies? dutch bling? or just finagle a rope and biner type of thing? Do any of you have pics of how you hang yours?

For the wieght it's intended to hold you can just use zing it with a dutchhook and a prussic on each end, but to keep the rangers from looking at it too hard i hooked straps with cinch buckles to mine.

I use mine all of the time. The first thing I set up is that, then I dump all of my gear into it, then setup camp from there. Had it in rain and snow and has held up fine.

Just ordered one, after seeing a recent blog post on using a gear hammock, by Derek Hansen, here: http://theultimatehang.com/2016/05/u...-gear-hammock/.

I haven't updated the web site yet, but Gear Boxes are now made with dark green 1.1 Polysil ripstop, and weigh only 4.0 oz.
When I run out of the core-less parachute cord that I'm using with Gear Boxes, I'll probably get something lighter and stronger.

I'm hiking the AT, taking a zero right now in Franklin, but want to say of three boxes of luxury items sent home, dropping my pack weigh from 30 lbs to 26.4, the one so called optional item I'm keeping is the gear box.

It is wonderful to unload my pack and work with the contents as if at a table. My stuff is staying dry. Furthermore, I packed out a rock (used to secure the lid) for a day and the mini sling was absolutely non the worse for the wear.

    Love this piece of gear!
