First use of my Tato hammock stand

    Guys,
I finally got my Tato hammock stand painted and gave it a trial run last night. The weather was excellent except for the 20-30 MPH winds for most of the night. I hung the tarp as low as I could on the windward side. It was supposed to get to 49 so I thought perfect I can test my 50 degree Loco Libre top quilt but the wind was a little much so I swapped it for my 20 degree Loco Libre top quilt. Using this along with my 3 season Warbonnet Lynx underquilt I was actually hot. I had to pull my legs out of the top quilt hot box and just use the top quilt as a quilt. After finally getting settled I slept till 9:30 this morning. I'm still getting used to setting up all the gear but so far so good. I must get faster putting up and taking down though. It seemed it took me forever to put everything up this morning. Here are a few pics of my setup last night.

The design of the Tato is outstanding and is so easy to set up.

Hi TS, nice pix on your TATO setup. Just wanted to stop by and post a thumbs up for TATO shot of our setup this week.

Here is a shot I took this week of our setup. 100% tree-less and the USForestry Service crews that saw our camp were in pleased-awe.

    Attachment 131439

Shown are; 2 x TATO stands with 1" EMT all around. For my wife's stand (on left) we have 78" legs and 13' ridgepole for her Warbonnet RidgeRunner. On the right is my WB Blackbird set on a 12' ridgepole with 60" legs. Over both are two WB Superfly tarps. At night we put up some simple ripstop privacy drapes on each end. I did put real-tree camo duck tape on the EMT : )

There was a night of rain and the setup did well. We remained dry and cozy under a strung-tight-as-a-drum tarp.

Accrete, I have been trying to choose between painting my emt or wrapping it in a camo duct tape like you have, can you say that you think it will hold up pretty good using the tape?..I would rather do this then paint it if i think it will hold up...??

I'll tell you the paint chips off easily but is even easier to touch up if you are so inclined. I use that new Rust-Oleum Forged Hammered and it works great.

    Hi & greetings.

Well... the reason I went w/tape is from what I read there was a bit of prep involved in EMT to get paint to actually stick long term where as a simple wipe down with white vinegar had been done by others applying duct tape < < and since we full time in an RV and have no access to a shop/garage I went the tape route. On "Holding up" ? I bring a roll of the camo with us for simple scrape cover-ups, and yes they happen for us, but w/the camo it looks fresh after a patch so works for us. I'm going to do the top rails this week. I know it's a lot of tape!

Thanks for the reply, both your tape job and Trailslugs paint job look good but i think i'll go with the tape as well, easier to touch up like you say and feels better on the hands too.!!
