Question Hammock that's also a tarp?

I read mention of some crazy gizmo that was supposed to be usable as a hammock or a tarp or a bivy. I think basically it was a large sil-nylon rectangle and some straps.
I was still trying to figure out if it it was a brilliant design or just brilliant marketing. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

No idea, sorry, but it seems like something of that nature would be uncomfortable after while because it doesn't breathe well.

I know, right? In the back of my mind I was thinking it might make for a decent backup tarp / gear-hammock / poncho, but I wanted to read a bit more before even going that far.

There's a guy on youtube that makes a "winter pod hammock" literally out of a blue hardware store tarp that completely velcro's shut and has some wind shield heat reflector material inside, but I doubt you'd want to be any where near it in the summer or if beans were on the menu that night..

Check out this video from Jaxx to see if this is what you are talking about. Look around the 4 or 5 minute mark. Grapenut describes it but I think Hangnout built it. You may do some searches on these guys here or on youtube for more detail.

Sounds miserable with a capital M. Silnylon hammock? No thanks.

If you watch the video, I believe the tarp is integrated and made of a waterproof, breathable material. I believe there is a UQP integrated as well.
Again, I am not even sure if this is what you are looking for - it just triggered a memory of this video.

Sounds like brilliant marketing to me. My dry hammock will always be with my dry gear and possible wet tarp NOT inside my pack.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I think grand trunk makes a hammock that's marketed for use as a backup tarp as well. I suppose some noobs might find it appealing as they tend to worry about wind/water in a hammock. At least I worried about that until I'd experienced a few good storms in a hammock. In reality a water proof hammock is a terrible idea. That's one of the many things I love about hammocks, they breathe! I hate the sweaty back I get on a pad and that is exactly what a waterproof material would get you. Also, if any water were to get into the hammock via dripping down suspension lines, etc. it would create a nice puddle to lay in. Sounds like fun, right?
