Kevlar 2 inch tree huggerss. Ultra wide and light at dutchwaregear.com

I now have available 2 inch wide tree huggers made out of 3.1 grams per foot Kevlar. A pair of 4 foot huggers only weighs just over an ounce. Great for those parks that require 2 inch webbing. Remember that Kevlar is UV sensitive and they should not be exposed to UV light.

How well does 2" webbing work with your Ti gadgets?

These are huggers. You can get the Dutch clips to work, but that is about it.

I met a fellow GA hanger who had colored yellow Kevlar straps black with a broad tip Sharpie. I did not realize he had Kevlar straps as they looked like black poly or nylon straps until he told me. Do you know if coloring the Kevlar like that would provide UV protection and make them less vulnerable to sunlight degradation?

    Thanks

I doubt that there are any UV inhibitors in Sharpie ink!

Haven't tried it on kevlar but it works on all my paddling gear. 303 is a UV inhibitor

Does anyone have experience with the expected lifespan of Kevlar straps, assuming frequent use under standard wooded conditions? Should they be replaced annually or even sooner? Can you visibly determine when they are compromised?

Not straps, but I had some kevlar kite lines that went through several incarnations, becoming non-stretch lines for marking out soccer fields after I stopped making large stunt kites, where they were much abused for 17 years. Then they got spliced as whoopie slings for adjustable hammocks. They are still strong, now. I think I first started flying kites with them around 1985. Visual inspection of tree straps is all you need, and I doubt that you'll need to replace them for ten years or more if you take care of them. UV might be an issue if you hung a hammock from posts and left it up all summer. (Trees generally come with shade, a UV inhibitor. Also UV diminishes rapidly after dusk.)
