    Wanna Be Hammock Camper

As the title suggests, I am new to the world of hammock camping. I hammock frequently but I have never spent the night in my hammock in the woods. BUT I want to!

I'm not really sure what else I should put in my intro...

I currently live in Blacksburg, Virginia (Go Hokies!) but I'll be graduating in a few weeks with my Bachelors in Wildlife Conservation (yes, I do want to save the animals).

My goal before leaving this beautiful Appalachian area is to hike/camp around what some call the Triple Crown (I know its not the same as the one in the West). This consists of Tinker's Cliff, Dragon's Tooth, and McAfee's Knob. It's about a 30 mile round trip if you connect the whole loop.

But anyway, thats a little about me and what I'm like

Welcome fellow Hokie! Those 3 peaks are freakin' amazing! What kind of hammock do you currently use?

I have a single nest ENO but I want to upgrade to something a little bigger in the near future because I'm 5' 9" and its a little smaller than I would like. I've already got a bug net and I'm in the process of getting a tarp.

Welcome! Hokie here! I wish I had gotten out more while I was there. It's a gorgeous part of the state and the AT. I'm up at UConn now for grad school. I'll be visiting Blacksburg in June and thinking about making the trip to Grayson Highlands.

Welcome. Get out and enjoy that beautiful area while you have it. You'll only miss it more once your gone.

I have an ENO doublenest, but felt thr same way and im only 5' 7". You should check out Dutchware's Argon hammocks, they're 11' and pretty inexpensive. They have no bells and whistles but if you already have a bug net, then Dutch's hammocks will be perfect. That argon is super comfy.

Welcome I'm just one state over. I would also recommend Grayson Highlands the highest point in VA. Don't forget trail days is thus weekend well worth going to. If your interested in a Dutch hammock he was there last year and I think he will be there this year also.
