hammock strap failure

Usually when I see a damaged strap it is from the buckles being turned sideways when the strap is loaded.

Exactly! I always check. My 3 separate sets of the Warbonnet straps/buckles are original and still look like new. One gets used much more than the other two. Never even got them sappy from the pines...I don't know how I managed that, but I never had to clean them!

Man... I would definitely replace if my Amsteel looked like that! I have red on one end of my hammock and grey on the other. The red seems to fade quickly and looks worn, but not frayed. I hung this past weekend and this thread really made me pay attention to my suspension and my friends. I'm the only one with minimalist suspension, but I think mine just shows use, not wear. I carry a couple of dog bone sections of Amsteel for extension emergencies. I think I could replace a broken whoopie with one or two of those if needed while on the trail.

I do the same red = head end
And i have since ordered and replaced the cl in those pictures
I have sanded the cinch bugs a bit
I will keep a watchful eye on this set
