We are finally home! There was an accident on I 95. They shut down all north bound lanes. This created gridlock on all other north bound routes. It took 11 hours for a trip that usually takes about 5-6. The SUV will wait till tomorrow to be unpacked and gear aired and stowed. It was a great weekend seeing old friends and making new. Will be marking the calendar for the "Hunger Hang". ( A little delay on the return trip will not keep us from heading south.) Thank you to Gunner, for organizing. Also a Thank you to Terminator, Hotlips, Kingsford and Stubby for all the delicious food.

Thanks for coming down and joining us. Remember, you are now southerners and have to have grits several times a week.

AA2FD and I made it safely home. Had a "nice" detour via GPS to get us around a series of accidents on I95 near our home that took out 20 cars and shut the interstate down...so instead of being stuck in an over 20 mile backup on the interstate we got to deal with a 3-mile backup at a traffic light halfway between Bowling Green and Fredericksburg. (I think we made the wiser choce! LOL )
Had a great time and it was nice to see everyone again. Hope outr schedules will let us make it down that way again sooner than an 18 month gap the next time!

The person in blue is The Terminators dermatologist who drove 3 hours to visit us and check out our hammocks. The Terminator said that her doctor and wife are going to try and join us at our next hang.

I still have lots of pictures to go thru along with some video.

Thanks for the pics, Gunner. I'm feeling a lot less stressed right now.

Yes we made it home around 11:30AM and started getting the gear in order. My wife liked my new Netty hammock so much that it is now hers, and hope I can talk the Mecks into making just ONE more for me.

When I arrived home I noticed that my neighbor had cut down some trees in his yard so I ask him what he is doing with all that wood? He responded by saying do I wanted any; of course was my response. So I will be splitting wood for awhile.

My kayak enjoyed the 270 mile round trip and never got used. But had other commitments so everything worked out. Has always great food (you know who I am talking about) and company (that too). This was the most people I have ever seen at MMSP for a hang. One of the interesting conversations we had around the fire was about portable generators in which I purchased one today. I tried it out and it did pull my 1000 watt perculator. I might be bringing that to a hang in the future.

Thanks Pappy Amos, Slugger and Spike for the enjoyable hike on both trails.

Terminator I still need gas money for shuttling you all.

Did get some ladder ball going which got the young ones involved.

The hammock demo was a great success and since Gunner lost his job with testing the Mecks Hammecks he now has a new job doing hammock demos at the NC state parks.

    Thanks guys and gals.
    Straight out of Clayton.

Most physical hike: Grandfather Mountain, NC. Aug 13.

I don't need to make my pack lighter. I need to make my (_*_) lighter.
