    It Does Work

jaywxsl, my apologies as it does work. My mistake was in using a different row. When I plugged in the numbers in the row that already had data, it worked.

    Thanks much, Chaz

I'm in Canada and they don't sell permethrin products for personal outdoor use

Has anyone used Extenda Shield? It is used for animals has .1% Pyrethrin, 1% Piperonyl Butoxide and .5% Permethrin.

I may give the Martin's concentrate one more try. I'm getting low on my first bottle. But the "separation" issue is still there. And I see some other reviewers mentioned the same thing.

Do I mix the bottle or not? If I don't, it's more of an oily substance off the top. I think the meat of the product is in the bottom since the top doesn't smell. The little slivers of whatever are still jamming every spray bottle I use after about 3 pumps so I have to soak which is not my preferred method for clothes.

One more try...then I guess I'll go back to the expensive Sawyer premix.

The only issue I can think of is storage in my garage. It varies from about 40°-85° year round. I'll keep the next bottle in my basement.

Concentrations are independent of volume units. Whether liters or gallons, a 10% solution makes up 1/20th of the final mix for a 0.5% final concentration.

    Want:
    40 oz. spray bottle full use 2 oz. concentrate. 40 oz/20 = 2 oz.
    1 liter use 50 ml concentrate. 1000/20 = 50 ml
    1 gallon use 1/20 gallon or 128 oz/20 = 6.4 oz.

Storage might just be it, I have a bottle of the concentrate in my basement that’s at least two years old. I mixed a spray bottle with it a couple of months ago and didn’t have any issues with clogging or noticeable separation.

Permethrin is applied to clothing and outdoor gear material, bonding to the fabric fibers for up to 6 weeks (42 days) or 6 washings.

I don't keep track of washings or when I treated my stuff. I guess it wouldn't be so hard. But I don't trust it after one wash...it's getting treated before going out in the summer.

42 days? No way. 40 days, sure. 41 if you like to live wild. What about 23 days, 2 washings, and once caught in the rain?

I gave up on counting days and purchased the Insect Shield garments. They cost a bit more but are worth it when you factor in the expense of treating clothes over and over again.

I had the same idea going forward. There's an 8oz, 16oz, and 32oz bottle on amazon. The 8oz will be perfect. The 16oz I have is a couple years old now with 1/3 or more left.

Got the new 8oz bottle of concentrate. Looks good with no separation or flakes in the bottom. I'm keeping this indoors in case temperature was the issue with the last bottle.
