    Do you use permethrin?

Just did another Sawyers treatment on my bug net yesterday. 3 hours later, brushed off the carnage of the potential marauders that were strewn about the lattice of death and climbed in for a nap.
Yes, I use it and I like it.

I love the smell of permethrin in the morning. Smelled like...victory.

    Works pretty good...
What is the purpose of wrapping up the stuff tight prior to soaking?

Probably to fit more items in the bucket.

So I am leaving Monday for a 4 day hike... I bought a can of spray permethrin... sounds like that won't do much - perhaps my clothes. Could I get away with buying a second can to spray the hammock? I just don't have the time or $ before Monday to buy the stuff at TSC and do the soak that several of you have mentioned.

The 24oz Sawyer trigger sprayer will treat plenty of gear for 4 days. Boots socks, pants, shirts, hat, hammock, bugnet, pack, PJs

Yea another spray bottle should be good for the hammock.

I just recently bought the 10% solution on amazon and then diluted it to a 20:1 ratio. Bought a spray bottle from Home Depot and used that instead of soaking. Worked really well while camping in Mammoth Cave, came back with no ticks!

The only thing that I found weird, and I don't know if this was due to the spray bottle or this is a normal thing with permethrin, but after my stuff was dried it seemed to have a kind of sparkly appearance, like there were a bunch of mini crystals on the clothing. The clothing didn't feel any different, just thought it was weird. Anyone else experience this?

It's pretty pricey if I want to treat all of my stuff. I read that some people dilute a higher concentration.

    What I bought: https://sawyer.com/products/permethr...ect-repellent/

Higher concentration that I could dilute? http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/pro...ise-spray-1-qt

I would like to hear from you if you've had experience diluting your own! Any advice is appreciated!

Never again... I tried it and it made stains and colors run in a number of different fabrics + shoes. Nothing at all wrong with 30% Deet stuff. Just don't drink it.

Wow! not at all my experience. What brand / concentration did you use and how did you apply?
