Also does it help even more on the wide hammocks?
I'm 6'1" I did not get the knotty mod on my 1.6 W. I'm actually Glad I didn't. I can get so diagonal in it that the Knottys would be of no use in my opinion. But everyone is different. Do you know anyone with a hammock with the Knotty... I'd sugest laying in one if you can and see if you like it

I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.

I'm 5'11" and have Knotty mods on both of my 11'x72" Dutchware hammocks. I feel like there's more room in the hammock when I don't use them, but my blanket (in house) or top quilt (outdoors) likes to waterfall off the foot end. I usually scootch around a bit while I sleep and this only causes me to lose more blankets overboard. Knotty mods are great because if you don't want to use them, you don't have to, and the hammock becomes a normal hammock, then when you're going to seriously go to bed and don't want to scoop your top insulation off the ground, cinch the knotty's and everything stays neatly in place. For what Dutch charges to install them, it's not a bad price, and if you don't use them, they won't bother you while not bunched. For me, it's absolutely worth it.

Love em on my 11' BIAS WW. Don't need them on my 10' x 60" DH Freebird.

Great Mod for starter DIYers. Doesn't get much easier.
